John Altendorf, LPCC
Clinical Counselor
John Altendorf is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. He has over twenty years of clinical experience working with children, teens and adults with a variety of mental health conditions. John specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, disruptive behaviors, trauma, bullying, and numerous life adjusting situations. John also has extensive training in family therapy and is trained in mediation therapy.
John believes positive mental health can be achieved through education, support, behavioral and lifestyle changes. Our past is in the past. However, we are a product of our past and therefore may need to look at things learned in our past that are detrimental to our wellbeing presently. John has a personal interest in providing professional therapy services in a timely manner. He does not believe in making people wait months for an appointment. Therefore he keeps time slots open each week for new clients. Most clients wait time for an appointment is less than five working days.
John attended the University of North Dakota where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He then attended North Dakota State University where he earned a Master’s degree in Counseling. John has worked in schools, hospitals, community mental health, and county social service centers in both Minnesota and North Dakota. John enjoys the outdoors with interests in anything that will take him outside including fishing, hunting, skiing and biking.
